Founding Sins: How a Group of Antislavery Radicals Fought to Put Christ Into the ConstitutionThe Covenanters, now mostly forgotten, were America's first Christian nationalists. For two centuries they decried the fact that, in their view, the United States was not a Christian nation because slavery was in the Constitution but Jesus was not. Having once ruled Scotland as a part of a Presbyterian coalition, they longed to convert America to a holy Calvinist vision in which church and state united to form a godly body politic. Their unique story

The Covenanters, now mostly forgotten, were America's first Christian nationalists. Their unique story has largely been submerged beneath the histories of the events in which they participated and the famous figures with whom they interacted, making them the most important religious movement in American history that no one remembers.

Despite being one of North America's smallest religious sects, the Covenanters found their way into every major revolt. They were God's rebels--just as likely to be Patriots against Britain as they were to be Whiskey Rebels against the federal government. As the nation's earliest and most avowed abolitionists, they had a significant influence on the fight for emancipation. In Founding Sins, Joseph S. Moore examines this forgotten history, and explores how Covenanters profoundly shaped American's understandings of the separation of church and state.

While modern arguments about America's Christian founding usually come from the right, the Covenanters have a more complicated legacy. They fought for an explicitly Christian America in the midst of what they saw as a secular state that failed the test of Christian nationhood. But they did so on behalf of a cause--abolition--that is traditionally associated with the left. Though their attempts to insert God into the Constitution ultimately failed, Covenanters set the acceptable limits for religion in politics for generations to come.

Buttery soft and flattering fit
Special Size: 27.5" Full Length with Pockets, Size: Small, Color: Taupe
I love these leggings! They are buttery soft (as advertised) and have a very flattering fit. Also the grey/beige color is really pretty. About to buy another pair in black! Highly recommend!

Not for people over 5'6"
Special Size: 27.5" Full Length with Pockets, Size: XX-Large, Color: Slate Grey
These are definitely designed for shorter people. They get 5* because they're still low cost and decent quality on fabric. Just have to pull the waist up because the calfs are not designed to be worn as capris and pull the entire leggings down. If it sized up one more then they'd just fall down because of the waist. So waistband fits as expected. They're just also for shorter people than me.

"Heather" and Non-Heather Colors are Not the same Fit & Material
Special Size: 27.5" Full Length, Size: Large, Color: Space Dye Slate
I bought these in one of the "heathered" colors and loved how soft they were. They are really comfortable and stretchy, thick enough that they can be worn on their own. They are not a perfect fit, but fit well enough and I can overlook this because of how smooth they feel. I wanted to try other colors and only realized after purchasing that the non-heathered colors were a different material. I was able to return them but they should probably be listed as a separate item. They have an entirely different fit and texture and I would not recommend. Five stars for the heather colors, one star for the non-heather version.

Comfy!
Special Size: 27.5" Full Length with Pockets, Size: Large, Color: Black
Super comfy, not as much tummy control as I would like but perfect for house work, going to the gym or grocery shopping. Love that these have pockets!! Thin so not too hot and stretchy too.

Great leggings!
Special Size: 27.5" Full Length with Pockets, Size: Medium, Color: Black
These are great leggings! They’re my third pair. They are comfortable, lightweight, and fit great. I wouldn’t say they are buttery soft as compared to other leggings that are listed the same texture, however they are soft and smooth. The pockets are a must and are positioned perfectly.
