Six Questions Your Tommy's Express Car Wash Franchise Financial Model Must Answer

We developed this franchise unit financial model using deep-dive research into the automated wash sector to ensure accuracy for operators. The model comes pre-populated with critical data like the $1.775 million year-one revenue target and specific capital expenditure needs for high-tech wash tunnels. All inputs, from the 4% royalty fee to the $18,000 monthly rent, are fully editable to match your specific territory and site conditions.

When will the unit see net profit?

When will the unit see net profit?

The franchise unit is projected to reach profitability very quickly, hitting its break-even date in March 2026, just three months after launch. With a year-one EBITDA of $864,000, the model shows a strong trajectory, though the high initial investment means the full payback occurs after year five. You will defintely need to maintain high membership conversion to keep this timeline on track.

Improve Profitability

  • Upsell premium upgrades to 15% of single-wash customers
  • Optimize chemical usage to hit the 3.6% target
  • Maximize fleet contract volume during weekday morning lulls

What is the total investment and where does it go?

What is the total investment and where does it go?

The total capital expenditure for this unit is significant, driven by the iconic building design and advanced automated wash equipment. You will need to allocate $2.2 million for construction and $1.8 million for the wash tunnel machinery alone. The total initial investment, including the $50,000 franchise fee and water reclamation systems, sets the stage for a high-volume, premium operation.

Major Capital Uses

  • Building Construction: $2,200,000
  • Automated Wash Equipment: $1,800,000
  • Water Reclamation System: $750,000
  • Site Preparation and Grading: $450,000
[dynamic_pic10]
What is the return on investment?

What is the return on investment?

The automated car wash ROI is built on long-term recurring revenue, showing an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 0.7% and a Return on Equity (ROE) of 2.42. While the payback period extends beyond the five-year mark due to the $6 million+ in startup costs, the EBITDA grows to $2.592 million by year five. This suggests a high-value asset with strong cash-on-cash potential once the initial debt is serviced.

Investor Metrics

  • Internal Rate of Return: 0.7%
  • Return on Equity: 2.42
  • Year 5 EBITDA: $2,592,000
[dynamic_pic11]
What is the break-even point?

What is the break-even point?

The monthly break-even point is reached in month three, provided you hit the initial membership and retail sales targets. The primary driver for reaching this point is membership fee volume, which is forecasted to start at $700,000 in the first year. If labor costs for your attendants and technicians stay on plan, the high average ticket from premium washes will accelerate your path to covering fixed costs.

Break-Even Levers

  • Aggressive 'Founding Member' pre-launch sign-up campaigns
  • Tight control of $4,500 monthly utility expenses
  • Maintaining a lean 1.0 FTE for customer service
[dynamic_pic12]
What is the cash runway and lowest cash point?

What is the cash runway and lowest cash point?

The lowest cash point is projected at -$4.258 million in September 2026, reflecting the heavy timing of equipment and construction payments. You need to ensure your financing package covers this trough to avoid liquidity issues during the final stages of the build-out. To be fair, the ramp-up is fast, but the initial cash burn is intense due to the specialized nature of the facility.

Protect Cash Flow

  • Negotiate progress payments for the $1.8M equipment package
  • Delay signage and landscaping CAPEX until just before opening
  • Phase wash attendant hiring to match actual traffic ramp
[dynamic_pic13]
How do Low, Medium, and High scenarios change the outcome?

How do Low, Medium, and High scenarios change the outcome?

The model allows you to toggle between scenarios to see how a 10% drop in membership fees impacts your year-one margin. In a high-growth scenario, hitting $549,000 in fleet contracts by year five significantly boosts the IRR and shortens the payback window. Still, the low case highlights that even with slower growth, the high EBITDA margins of the automated model provide a decent buffer against rising labor costs.

Hit the High Case

  • Execute geofencing ads to target local rideshare hubs
  • Implement the TommyClub app for frictionless recurring billing
  • Maintain the 3-minute wash cycle to maximize throughput

Fun with a late blooming omega
Format: Kindle
I like this book. The story is fun, cute, and sexy. There's just a little drama, some excellent, steamy scenes, and a fairly good relationship building storyline. I especially like how all the main characters are a bit older than the usual 20 somethings I tend to see in this kind of book. Having said that, I wish there were more descriptions of the places, as well as the food in the fancy restaurant. I enjoyed the cocktails at the club, so I missed that kind of detail when Gray took Madison on a dinner date. I also wish there had been more interaction between Lucas and Madison, and Lucas and Rian. It felt a bit lopsided, with a focus on Rian, Madison, and Gray. I wish it had been proofread - there are a lot of typos, but nothing too distracting.

Madison Deserved Better
Format: Kindle
Madison was a beta...except she wasn't any longer. She was a late presenting Omega. And she was struggling. She was tall and thin, not tiny and curvy. She was opinionated. She was everything an Omega was not. After suffering through her first heat, her friends took her to Ardor, a club where Omegas came to safely find Alphas. She's not expecting much but then she connects with a sexy beta. And when she meets his Alphas, they set her body on fire. Maybe, she's found her no-strings-attached heat pack. Maybe, she's found something more. I could not connect with the characters in this book, so their story never resonated with me. And there was no love story; there was sex. Grey made it clear from the beginning that he had a true love and it was his beta boy, Rian. He went so far as to reassure Rian “Say the word, I’ll never touch her again. Lucas can put the babies in her. I only need you, beta boy”. So, Madison was there for babies, no emotions needed. Nice. No, thank you. I want the Omega to be the center of their world, not an incubator. Lucas and Rian weren't any better. After her heat, they let her leave. Not one of them made her feel valued. No one gave her a reason to stay or even offered a cuddle. And the sex didn't even come across as mind-blowing. Madison deserved better.

Pretty Darn Good
Format: Kindle
So I’ve been on a omega kick and this definitely hit the spot. Madison was frustrating at times with how she acted towards Lucas, Gray, and Rian. It was like she said towards the end, she didn’t believe she deserved nice things. It would have been nice to hear from her best friends again. They kind of were there in the beginning and the gone except for mention of text messages received from them. I feel like her friends would have been great help in encouraging Madison to go with the pack and never give Brent another chance because he was toxic. I loved Rian. His personality was awesome. His humor. His ability to make Madison comfortable whenever she was feeling overwhelmed. And the fact he fell for her and she fell for him first. They are cute together. I do feel like Lucas was the odd man out though. Like Lucas didn’t develop as much of a relationship with Madison. I would have really liked to see more development in the relationship between them. It was also the same with him and Rian. There is really no relationship displayed. Most of the relationship being displayed is between Rian and Gray. Nevertheless, I loved reading about the dynamic that came to fruition during the entirety of this story. Madison finally got her happiness. And Brent finally got punched in the face. Everyone got exactly what they deserve.

Pack's Promise was okay but not great
Format: Kindle
Pack's Promise was okay but not great. I won't recommend it to anyone that I know. PRO: * Very likable characters * Lots of steamy scenes that are written very well * The spelling and grammar are good * The punctuation is good with the exception of using hyphens instead of commas. Lots of hyphens. Lots and lots of hyphens. CON: * Almost no interactions with any characters outside of Madison and the pack * Nearly no plot. They meet, get together for a heat, agree to make it permanent, done * Quite a few typos such as extraneous words, missing words and words out of order THINGS TO KNOW: * More steamy scenes than storytelling * A lot of MM & MMM, some MFMM during heat
