Wallflowers (Erysimum) are a beloved springtime classic, prized for their sweet fragrance, long-lasting blooms, and ability to fill gardens with vibrant colour when most other plants are still dormant. Professor White delivers an admiring but not uncritical portrait of a man who stood for qualities and principles now in short supply. Jackson was a leading practitioner when other judges were more political, but nevertheless had to speak the language of the rule of law. And his contributions at Nuremberg, haphazardly portrayed in the recent movie, really come through . The United States would help establish a record of epic misdeeds and show that the perpetrators could be punished in a system of justice.
