Learn the many ways that you can weave open and airy or textured fabric using one heddle and one or two pickup sticks. We will focus not only on the patterns themselves, but also how to combine several patterns into beautiful borders for towels, curtains, and fabric for sewing. Participants will arrive with their warps already warped so we can jump right in. The class will include instruction on how to make and use a heddle rod simply and easily. We will explore multiple designs, and participants will leave with an extensive handout to continue their explorations of lace weaves at home.
Materials Required:
Functional Warped Rigid Heddle loom and stand, at least 2 stick shuttles and 2 pick up sticks. Warping instructions will be provided approximately 1 month prior to class
Prerequisites:
Students should be familiar with warping and weaving plain weave on a rigid heddle loom and have completed several projects on their own.
