How to install Cisco 10GBASE-DWDM 1552.52 nm SFP+ (100-GHz ITU grid)

Follow these steps to install and verify the transceiver in your Cisco equipment, ensuring a reliable DWDM link from day one:

  • Power down or prepare for hot-swapping according to your device’s guidelines, then insert the SFP+ transceiver into an available SFP+ slot until you hear a secure click and the module is seated properly.
  • Attach the optical fiber cables with LC/PC duplex connectors, ensuring transmit on one end aligns with receive on the opposite end. Use single-mode fiber that matches the transceiver’s design and your network topology.
  • Power on the device or resume operation if hot-swapping was performed. Access the device management interface or command-line console to confirm module recognition and link establishment.
  • Configure the appropriate DWDM settings on both ends of the link, including wavelength (1552.52 nm) and 100-GHz ITU grid alignment. Verify that the counterpart on the remote side is configured for the same channel so the DWDM link can carry the intended traffic.
  • Validate performance with optical test equipment and standard network tests. Measure optical power, assess signal-to-noise ratio, and confirm the expected data rate under real traffic conditions. Monitor the link quality over time to detect drift or degradation and plan maintenance accordingly.

Frequently asked questions

  • Q: What is 10GBASE-DWDM and why would I choose this Cisco SFP+? A: 10GBASE-DWDM combines 10 Gbps Ethernet with dense wavelength division multiplexing, allowing multiple DWDM channels on a single fiber pair. This Cisco SFP+ provides a ready-made, Cisco-validated transceiver for scalable, high-density optical networks, ideal for data centers and metro deployments that require maximum fiber efficiency.
  • Q: What does the 1552.52 nm wavelength and 100 GHz ITU grid mean in practice? A: The wavelength specifies exactly where the channel sits in the DWDM spectrum, while the 100 GHz ITU grid defines the channel spacing. Together, they ensure predictable channel placement, compatibility with DWDM multiplexers, and predictable performance across links.
  • Q: What kind of fiber and connector are required? A: This transceiver uses single-mode fiber with an LC/PC duplex connector. Proper fiber type, quality connectors, and clean cleaves are essential for achieving the best optical performance and minimizing insertion loss.
  • Q: Is this module hot-swappable? A: SFP+ modules are generally hot-swappable in Cisco devices, allowing you to replace or upgrade components without powering down the entire system. Always follow your device’s hardware maintenance guidelines.
  • Q: Where can I deploy this transceiver? A: It is designed for data networking and optical networking environments, including data centers, campus networks, and metro or optical backbones where DWDM channels are used to increase bandwidth on existing fiber infrastructure.

I love it
Color: Black/Silver
I need a watch has analog display (easy for me to read) and digital function (need the alarm and the countdown) also shows the day-date (the day has to be 3 digits e.g. Sunday is "sun" instead of "su"). I know I am very demanding, but it is just me, LOL. Have bought this watch for a couple of days. Yes, it fits all my needs. Pro: 1) Light weight, fair value materials, price is low and quality is fair. The glass is just a piece of plastic which is how I felt, but I put a packing clear tape on it and cut the edge off as my home made scratch protection. 2) There are 4 push buttons, except the center one for light, the other 3 seemed like are metal with rough surface which generate enough friction to hold and push it down. 3) It has Telememo, World Time, Snooze, two daily alarms, Count Down, hourly signal, and Stop watch functions. 4) 10 years battery which is better than solar battery (if solar battery never die), or it will be more expensive to replace a solar. 5) Casio always uses 4 screws to secure the back plate, much easier to replace the battery than other brands. 6) It has a smaller case (44 mm) with a larger LED display. Neutral: 1) Telememo, I don't know who needs this, because smart phones can do much more. Also, I try not to buy a watch with Waveceptor, smart phone can always pick up the correct time right after the airplane touch down. However, Waveceptor can auto reset the watch, but the problem is if it can receive the signal? and for how long? I still prefer the old school way to manually adjust. Con: 1) There is no pull out button to set up the analog, and this watch can only go forward. For example, if analog is 2 min faster, then I have to forward the hand for 11 hours and 58 min to correct it, that is a lot of pain, even you can hold both C & D to have the hand auto advance. Or, it only need to go backward for 2 min. 2) It can show two time zones time, but the digital day-date only matches with the digital time. One can not set the day-date to match with the analog. Overall, I love this watch, and there is a metal version "AMW830D-2AV".

Nice, old school style Casio watch!
Color: Black/Silver
Nice watch for the price! It looks a lot like the old school G-Shock that I had in the 1990's. Of course it is not built like a tank like the G-Shock was. However it is a very nice everyday watch with plenty of useful functions. It even comes with a 10 year battery! Bonus! I bought the "Used, Like New" option for a VERY discounted price and it still came in the original packaging with the instruction booklet. Go ahead. Get one. You know you want to.
