This Damascus set gives you seven purpose-built knives for complete daily prep. Blade sizes run from 7 inches on the utility knife up to 13 inches on the bread knife. Every blade is forged from layered Damascus steel in a flowing wave pattern. Every handle pairs natural bone scales with a wood spacer and silver pins. No bolster sits between blade and handle. A leather roll is included for protected storage and travel.

This is the only 7-piece Damascus kitchen set at JW Steel Crafts with bone handles and a leather roll in a Bread, Cleaver, Chef, Santoku, Fillet, Boning, and Utility configuration.

The History Behind This Blade

The full seven-knife kitchen system marked a complete professional setup, with a dedicated blade for every task and no overlap between them. A bread knife sawed through crusted loaves, a cleaver broke down heavy cuts, and a chef knife and santoku led daily prep. A fillet knife handled fish, a boning knife worked around joints, and a utility knife covered mid-size tasks. Bone became a prized handle material in custom kitchen knives for its smooth, dense surface and pale natural tone, often paired with a wood spacer for contrast and strength. The leather roll kept the full set protected and portable. The JW Steel Crafts bone-handle Damascus set carries that complete kitchen tradition in every forged blade.

What Is Inside the Set

  • Bread Knife: Serrated edge for clean cuts through crusted loaves, largest at 13 inches

  • Cleaver: Heavy chopping through dense vegetables and thick meat

  • Chef Knife: Primary slicing, chopping, and daily prep

  • Santoku: Flat edge for vegetable work and precision slicing

  • Fillet Knife: Narrow flexible blade for fish and delicate cuts

  • Boning Knife: Trimming meat and separating joints around bone

  • Utility Knife: Mid-size trimming and portioning, smallest at 7 inches

Blade Performance

Every blade is forged from layered Damascus steel in a flowing wave pattern. The layered structure builds consistent edge retention and cutting strength through daily use. Damascus holds a working edge longer than standard stainless under the same load. The pattern varies naturally across every blade — no two are identical. Full tang construction runs through every handle and spreads weight evenly from tip to base for stable cutting.

Handle Construction

Every handle is shaped from natural bone with a wood spacer at the bolster end. Bone gives a smooth, dense surface that stays firm and dry during active prep, and its pale tone carries a natural variation, so no two handles look identical. The dark wood spacer adds contrast and reinforces the joint. Silver pins lock every handle to the full tang for long-term reliability. No bolster sits between blade and handle, giving each knife a clean, lightweight profile.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes this set different from the other bone-handle Damascus set at JW Steel Crafts?

This set ships in a leather roll and includes a fillet and bread knife. The other bone set pairs bone with rosewood, has no roll, and uses a gyuto, bunka, and paring instead.

What is the fillet knife for?

Its narrow, flexible blade follows the bones of fish and handles delicate cuts that a stiff chef knife cannot make cleanly.

What is the wood spacer on each handle?

A dark wood strip at the bolster end that adds contrast against the pale bone and reinforces the joint.

Are the handles real bone?

Yes. Each handle uses natural bone with a wood spacer, so every piece carries its own subtle tone variation.

Are all seven knives full tang?

Yes. The tang runs the full length of every handle for strength and durability.

Does the leather roll fit all seven knives?

Yes. Each knife sits in its own slot, and the roll closes for storage and travel.

How do I care for Damascus blades?

Hand wash and dry after use, oil occasionally, and never use a dishwasher.

Is this set suitable as a gift?

Yes. The matched blades, bone handles, and leather roll make it a strong gift for cooks and collectors.

Inkjets have come a long way
Pattern Name: Printer, Style: ET-15000
Just a lot to like about this printer and nothing I don't like. Very capable for the price. I do mostly black and white printing, rarely print photos. (This will supposedly do a credible job of photo printing too but I haven't tried it). If you want professional caliber photo printing, you probably want the Epson 8550 which is similar to this, a bit more expensive, but does 6 color printing. If you are doing more like every day business printing the 15000 might be a better choice because it's built more for speed. The tank system means I can just replace the black because I use it a lot. The black ink tank is double size of the others and based on my experience so far, I think I'll easily get over a thousand pages on the standard-vivid setting which is very strong black but still relatively high speed printing. Given that the black ink bottles are under $30 I think the cost per page will be comparable to laser. The booklet/pamphlet printing can be complicated to work out with layers of PDF software and the Epson printer driver. But once you work it through, it's super capable. I've printed a lot of 12 x 18 double-sided for booklets and the paper handling has been flawless. (It can duplex automatically for 8 1/2 x 11 but for other sizes you have to manually duplex, which you can do by printing back/front or even/odd.) It's not as fast as a laser printer but it's pretty fast -- inkjets have improved so much.

Perfect Printer for My Small Business
Pattern Name: Printer, Style: ET-15000
I purchased the Epson ET-15000 for my crafting and apparel business and have been very pleased with its performance. The print quality is excellent, colors are vibrant, and the large ink tanks help save money over time. It handles larger print sizes with ease and has become an essential part of my workspace.

Nice large format printer which is what I needed
Pattern Name: Printer, Style: ET-15000
I make stained glass panels and needed a printer that I could make larger copies with. I also wanted one that I could manipulate my images with. This was my best option and I love the Eco-Tank printers. After reading the reviews I made sure to add a couple years of additional warranty for my peace of mind. Finding 13 x 19 paper that was affordable was a tough challenge. I found a bunch on FB marketplace and bought everything they had to offer. This printer was very easy to set-up. I just followed the instructions and then followed what was on my computer screen. At first I thought I would have an issue connecting to Wi-Fi but when it failed on the computer, I was able to go to the printer and do it from the control panel - Easy peesey. I have used it several times since filling, charging, and installing and everything works as it should. My husband has an Eco-Tank printer and I've wanted one since he got his. I love that the ink will last a very long time and that it will be cost efficient. I am not overly interested in photo printing so this was the perfect choice for my needs. The print quality is fairly good when comparing it to my old Canon and e that there are several paper trays and ways to make copies, especially the automatic feed and the larger scanner bed.
