Wilson Benesch Omnium

Fibonacci Series 2.5-Way Electric, 4-Way acoustic, Floor Standing Speaker

OMNIUM - FROM LATIN "OF ALL".

30-YEARS OF LOUDSPEAKER DESIGN DISTILLED IN ONE UNCOMPROMISING PRODUCT.

The name Omnium was chosen in recognition of this landmark, the name means of all, and it is a reference to the heritage of three decades of research and development that has come before it. Whilst the Omnium references all that has come before it, it is also a product that marks the dawn of the next generation of materials technologies developed through a collaborative research and development project – SSUCHY.

The stepped features seen in the Omnium’s foot are a reference to its larger sibling the Eminence. Hewn in house by Wilson Benesch from a single billet of aluminium to reduce an 80kg solid billet of aluminium by more than half, to create a single 38kg Omnium loudspeaker foot. This formidable component governs over the energy above by way of the 14mm tie bolts that generate a metric ton of compressive pressure through the Omnium enclosure. This is the foundation, ground zero and arbiter of performance.

Omnium stands boldly as the industry-leading design in this market sector from the pioneers and leaders in composite loudspeaker design.

TACTIC 3.0 DRIVE UNIT

The structure at the centre of the diaphragm plays a critical role in the behaviour of the drive unit. Commonly referred to as the “dust cap”, the name understates the importance of this component. In the Tactic 3.0, Wilson Benesch added the Fibonacci Element.

Produced in house using additive manufacturing technology, the Fibonacci Element can be printed according to pre-designed parameters. Such is the precision of the additive manufacturing software, that the Wilson Benesch design team can see in cross-section and design three-dimensionally the optimal layup of carbon fibre and nylon, defining both stiffness and weight across the structure. The result is a new geometrical form that is comprised of a double curvature with both open and closed aspects in the form of a lattice structure again borrowed from natural geometry. 5 different materials and adhesives provide significant improvements in both the accuracy of the frequency response and the reduction of distortion.

This is a critical aspect of the relationship between the drive unit and its ability to integrate with the roll off of the tweeter and bass drive units. In the past, several materials have been drawn upon to enable the fine-tuning of this marriage. Additive Manufacturing has opened up a new chapter in the pursuit of this subtle but extremely important aspect of loudspeaker design. For the first time, the principal aspects of this structure can all be adjusted in a way that was previously impossible.

FIBONACCI SILK-CARBON HYBRID TWEETER

The latest iteration of Wilson Benesch tweeter technology builds upon the Semisphere tweeter design pushing it into the next generation. As with all Wilson Benesch designs, the advances of the previous generation are built upon an iterative research and development pathway. With the Fibonacci tweeter, advances have been made within the structures adjacent to the motor and the hybridised dome. The Fibonacci tweeter faceplate is formed from a carbon fibre - nylon composite structure creating a geometrically optimised structure - the Fibonacci Element - that has been inspired by sacred geometry found in nature. In terms of acoustic performance, the faceplate delivers a new benchmark in terms of flat frequency response and ultrawide dispersion. In addition, the Fibonacci Element is decoupled from the motor and tweeter chassis which almost entirely eliminates structural borne resonance within this critical structure that surrounds the tweeter dome.

A.C.T. 3ZERO BIOCOMPOSITE MONOCOQUE

The Fibonacci Series introduces a full line of loudspeakers from the Wilson Benesch brand that are built from the new A.C.T. 3Zero biocomposite Monocoque. The new monocoque marks significant advances not only in terms of the acoustic performance of the Wilson Benesch reference line, but it also represents a deliberate and conscious move toward natural, renewable and sustainable materials technology.

ISOBARIC DRIVE SYSTEM

The principal low-frequency load of all loudspeakers in the Fibonacci Series is delivered by the Isobaric Drive System. Here two Tactic 3.0 Drive Units combine to create an Isobaric Drive System. The Isotactic Drive System is responsible for reproducing an incredibly tight and controlled bass response that is perfectly integrated with all other woofers in the loudspeaker chassis, particularly the midrange Tactic 3.0 drive unit.

STEALTH: CARBON FIBRE COMPOSITE TOP

Wilson Benesch fit a beautifully sculptural carbon fibre composite top to its reference line loudspeakers. The forms are inspired by natural, organic shapes, curves and free flowing lines found in nature. The carbon fibre tops are extremely complex forms are created using a combination of hand sculpting in clay which are in turn measured using a laser and in turn loaded into advanced 3D digital computer aided design (CAD) software at Wilson Benesch. By importing data in this way, Wilson Benesch are able to use powerful software algorithms to further optimise the 3D form before manufacturing. When a longitudinal sound wave strikes a flat surface, sound is reflected in a coherent manner. However, the reflective nature of a structure varies according to the shape of the surface. Uneven surfaces will diffract sound wave energy, rather than reflect it directly with little reduction in the energy of the sound wave which it perceived as colouration in the HIFI system. Therefore the complex ‘stealth like’ form is critical to the performance of the loudspeaker. By removing any flat, reflective surfaces and creating a highly complex structure, any reflective sound energy is scattered. This diminishes its energy and also avoids standing wave patterns within the listening space that are easily detected by the human ear as distortion or colouration.

DIRECT MIDRANGE DRIVE UNIT COUPLING

Wilson Benesch started development of its own drive unit diaphragms, including those made from a carbon fibre/epoxy matrix in 1995. Research was conducted using alternative hard dome materials. Without exception, Isotactic Polypropylene was favoured for its natural sound and the ability of this material to absorb energy and avoiding complex breakup modes in the diaphragm. This critical material characteristic allows the Wilson Benesch design team to achieve mechanically and acoustically what would otherwise be implemented in complex crossover designs with a series of inductors and capacitors. This reductive approach to crossover design maintains phase, linearity and the degree of control over manufacturing and design of both the drive unit specifications and the enclosure air volume allows Wilson Benesch to eliminate all crossover components in the midrange drive units of most Fibonacci Series models running the drive unit directly amplifier coupled.

PRECISION CNC MACHINED FOOT

One of the most important principles in structural engineering is loading. All modern buildings are built upon solid foundations. It is the reference point for everything above it, transferring the load of the structure into the ground. Within loudspeaker design, it is crucial to create a stable point from which the drive units can propagate complex and accurate waveforms that we appreciate as music.

The Omnium foot is machined from a 120kg slab of high-grade aluminium alloy, which is then combined with two extension plates that are bolted to the main structure with high tensile bolts. Add hand-wheels and the spikes; all design and manufactured in-house at Wilson Benesch and the whole foot assembly weighs in at 30kg.

13MM STEEL TIES: COMPRESSION IN THE VERTICAL AXIS

The Omnium enclosure is held under tons of compressive force using 13mm threaded steel bars which tie from the aluminium loudspeaker mid-plate into the Omnium foot. In turn there is a 13mm steel tie from the mid-plate into the top-plate. These vertical steel ties exert tons of compressive force in the vertical axis where the first resonant modes will emerge.

A must-read for my black queer ladies
Format: Paperback
This book delivered from start to finish. As a black, queer woman, it is hard to find relatable sapphic romance novels, so I was delighted to read this one. My thoughts are below in no particular order: I loved all the cultural references and the way the author describes these beautiful characters. The author did a great job developing the characters and the storyline. The enemy to crush to lover theme was a refreshing reprieve from the typical friends to lovers storyline I see so much in sapphic romance novels. The characters are very interesting - I was glad to see the author go with comic artists rather than your typical cliche careers. Both of the main characters, Noah and Sage, have very different upbringings, and each has her own personal issues going on in the background that they have to work through. This helped a lot with character development and I felt like I really got to know these ladies. The romance scenes are spicy and I was here for it! Some authors tend to dance around the love scenes, but this author did not spare any of the sultry details, using a chapter and a half to describe one encounter. Overall, I couldn’t recommend this book enough. It had me turning the pages all weekend long!

Sapphic Yearning at Its Best
Format: Paperback
4.5⭐️ rounded up Set in the same world as Rebekah Faubion’s debut THE LOVERS, we follow Cadence Connelly, park ranger and daughter of the enigmatic Madame Moira, as she finds out that her too-wild-to-be-tamed mother is getting married after only knowing the man for a few months. She travels home for the first time in years in an attempt to save the man from what she believes to be a con, only to find herself entranced by the man’s daughter, Sydney Sinclair. Sydney is also wildly suspicious of the engagement as she believed herself to be incredibly close with her father and it came as a complete surprise. The pair enter in a scheme to get to the bottom of the whirlwind engagement, but the chemistry between them may prove to be more of a distraction than they originally believed. It is not a secret that I was deeply obsessed with Rebekah Faubion’s debut and I’m happy to report that that love carries into her sophomore novel—no slump here! Returning to this very contemporary world that is coated in the mystical was like coming home. The love and care Rebekah gave her debut continues to shine as she tells Cadence and Sydney’s story and allowed me to immediately become attached to them. It’s clear from the start that these two women carry trauma from their childhood, but they have been wildly independent as they’ve grown up. The chemistry between them is constantly sizzling just under the surface and it is everything I could have asked for when I think of sapphic yearning. Cadence as a character stood out to me especially as a fellow daughter who felt like their mother controlled many aspects of her life. While our worlds are incredibly different, I felt every part of Cadence’s journey through the story—with the way she felt the need to run away and rebel against Moira to the eventual (if still slightly strained) acceptance of her behavior. If you’ve read THE LOVERS, you’ll be happy to see a few familiar faces return to the page as happy and in love as they were when we left them. I had a deep hope that we’d get a cameo or two, but it was still a pleasant surprise to actually see it happen. And the way Rebekah was able to weave them into the actual plot of this standalone story is masterful, allowing new readers and old alike to experience the story in much the same way. And, of course, we can’t not talk about Chicken. Chicken is perfect and wonderful and stole the show. He is living his best life and making us all fall in love with him from start to finish. We stan Chicken. Disclaimer: I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher for free and have voluntarily written this review.

Tender, sexy, and a little magical in the best way
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
I think I just found a new favorite author because The Sun and the Moon by Rebekah Faubion had me hooked. Cadence and Sydney’s parents suddenly get engaged after just a few months of dating and neither of them are thrilled. Cadence’s estranged mother is a well known psychic who once told her exactly how she’d meet her soulmate… and meeting Sydney feels way too familiar. Sydney’s close to her dad and skeptical of this fast moving relationship. The two of them team up to figure out what their parents are hiding, and the deeper they dig, the stronger the tension between them becomes. Oh and how can I forget the one bed scene I loved the partners-in-crime vibe, the bisexual rep, and the immediate chemistry between Cadence and Sydney. Their chemistry felt natural — flirty, sweet, and emotionally rich in a way that made me root for them instantly. The banter had me smiling, blushing and I loved how they challenged each other while still offering comfort and understanding. Plus? Sydney’s a pilot. Cadence is a park ranger. The vibes are IMMACULATE. ⭐️ 4.5 stars This book completely delivered. If you love queer romance with emotional depth, a little mystery, and characters that feel real, add this to your TBR immediately.

4-stars: 'The Sun and the Moon' by Rebekah Faubion
Format: Kindle, Format: Kindle
I enjoyed reading The Lovers last year and was eager to read Rebekah’s new book, The Sun and the Moon. Gorgeous covers always draw me in, and both books have stunning designs. After reading the synopsis, I knew I would enjoy this one. I love stories where opposites attract and soulmates are destined to meet. I loved getting to know Cadence and Sydney as they met at their parents’ engagement party. Cadence doesn’t have a close relationship with her mother, but she tries to find out if her mom is up to no good. She meets Sydney, whose father is marrying Cadence’s mother. Sydney is curious about her father’s quick engagement and agrees to help Cadence uncover the truth and possibly stop the wedding. As they spend time together, their undeniable connection grows, suggesting their meeting was fate. I enjoyed this Sapphic Romance and its engaging storyline. The chemistry between Cadence and Sydney was enthralling. I understood both characters’ skepticism about their parents’ wedding. Cadence’s concerns about her mother felt clear, and while investigating, she also becomes protective when it comes to her mother’s business. I understood Sydney, too, who simply wants to protect her father, whom she admires. Both struggle with their parents getting married at first, but ultimately become closer to each other and their parents as truths are revealed. The book focuses heavily on Cadence’s mother, sometimes overshadowing other elements. Still, I enjoyed the soulmates storyline between Cadence and Sydney. Overall, this book earns four stars from me, and I look forward to reading more by Rebekah Faubion. Single/Dual POV: Dual POV. Would I recommend this book? Yes. If you like Sapphic Romance with two FMCs who are opposites and destined to meet, I definitely recommend The Sun and The Moon. What to Expect: ✓Sapphic Romance ✓Opposites Attract ✓One Bed ✓Soulmates

Not for me
Format: Kindle
🔆Bookish Thoughts This one just didn’t work for me. I really struggled to connect with either of the FMCs, and I found the pacing incredibly slow. So much of the story focused on Cadence’s complicated relationship with her mom, and it became repetitive fast. I also had a hard time getting into the romance. The “destined to be together” angle felt forced, and there was a lot more internal monologue than actual connection on the page. And both Cadence and Sydney seemed emotionally immature. Honestly, I didn't like either FMC. The premise was really cute, but I think I was expecting more of a romcom vibe, especially with the whole reverse Parent Trap setup. But it ended up feeling dry, and I found myself tuning out and just not that interested. That said, if you’re into slow burns with a lot of emotional processing, this might be more your thing. 📅 Pub Date: August 12, 2025 Thank you to Berkley Publishing Group and NetGalley for the advanced copy. All thoughts are my own.
