Pick this knife up and you feel it immediately — solid, balanced, alive in your hand.

The upswept tip rises naturally, ready to work. The 200-layer Damascus pattern ripples down the blade like flowing water.

This isn't a shelf piece. It's a fixed blade skinner built to go into the field and come back bloody.

What Makes This Upswept Skinner Knife Different

This blade is hand-forged — not stamped, not laser-cut. Every layer of Damascus steel is folded and hammered by a real craftsman.

You feel that in the balance. You feel it in the edge. You feel it the first time you draw it across hide.

The Blade — 200-Layer Damascus Steel

This Damascus upswept skinner knife starts with 200+ layers of high-carbon and stainless steel. Hardness sits at 55–58 HRC — sharp enough to hold an edge all day, tough enough not to chip on bone.

The acid-etched finish pulls the Damascus pattern to the surface. Light catches it differently every time you turn the blade.

No two blades come out of the forge looking the same.

Built for Skinning

The American Hunter pattern has a rising tip for a reason. It lets you run the blade under hide without punching through to the meat underneath.

The long curved belly does the real work — gliding with control, following the contour of the animal. You guide it. The blade does the cutting.

This is what separates a true fixed blade skinner hunting knife from a general-purpose blade.

The Handle — Natural Stag Antler

Each stag antler handle is selected, not shaped. The natural ridges and curves give you a grip that locks in bare-handed or gloved.

Color runs from cream to dark brown along the crown. The texture is organic — rough where you need grip, smooth where it rests against your palm.

No two handles look the same, because no two antlers are the same.

The Build — Full Tang, Proper Balance

This is a full-tang knife. The steel runs the complete length of the handle — no hidden joints, no weak points.

That matters when you're field dressing game and putting real pressure on the blade. Full tang doesn't flex, twist, or fail.

The balance point sits just forward of the guard. The blade drops naturally into a skinning motion without fighting your wrist.

Ready to Carry

The included leather sheath is hand-stitched and form-fitted. The knife seats firmly — no rattle, no slop.

Draw is clean and one-handed. Carry it on your belt or strap it to your pack. It's built to go where you go.

Why Hand-Forged Beats Machine-Made

A machine-stamped skinning knife is cut from flat stock and sharpened. That's it.

A hand-forged Damascus upswept skinner knife is built layer by layer under heat and hammer. The steel grain aligns with the blade geometry. The edge holds longer. The feel is different — and hunters notice.

The JW SteelCrafts Difference

Every knife we forge is one of a kind. No production line. No two the same.

WHO IS THIS FOR?

Deer and elk hunters who field-dress their own game and need a skinning knife that holds its edge through the whole job — not just the first cut.

Serious outdoorsmen who want one fixed blade skinner hunting knife that handles caping, field dressing, and camp work without switching blades.

Knife collectors who buy to use — and want Damascus that's actually forged, not printed or etched onto cheap stock.

Gift buyers who want something handmade and meaningful for a hunter, veteran, or outdoorsman who's impossible to shop for.

HOW TO USE IT

Hold the stag antler handle with a full four-finger grip — let the natural texture lock the knife in place.

For skinning, lead with the belly of the blade. Light downward pressure, long smooth strokes. The curve does the work.

Use the upswept tip for precision: caping around the face, working around joints, separating connective tissue from bone.

Keep strokes short and deliberate near the cavity. This blade is built for control, not speed.

Rinse immediately after field use — blood left on Damascus steel will start to etch the surface.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR Damascus Skinner Knife

After every use:

  • Hand-wash with warm water and mild soap
  • Dry immediately with a clean cloth — never air dry
  • Never put it in a dishwasher

Every few weeks:

  • Apply a thin coat of food-safe mineral oil to the blade
  • Wipe off the excess with a dry cloth

Storage:

  • Keep in the leather sheath
  • Store away from moisture
  • Never store in a sealed plastic bag — trapped humidity causes rust

Sharpening:

  • Use a whetstone or ceramic rod
  • Maintain the original bevel angle
  • Finish with a leather strop to restore the edge

FAQs — Damascus Upswept Skinner Knife

Q: What steel is this upswept skinner knife made from? A: 200-layer Damascus steel — high-carbon and stainless folded together, hardened to 55–58 HRC. It holds a sharp working edge through hard field use.

Q: Is this a good skinning knife for deer and elk?

Yes. The upswept American Hunter pattern is built for it. The curved belly glides under hide, and the rising tip works near bone without punching into meat.

Q: Does this fixed blade hunting knife come with a sheath?

Yes — a hand-stitched leather sheath fitted to this blade. It carries on a belt, draws one-handed, and protects the edge in storage.

Q: Is it legal to own a fixed blade skinner knife in the USA?

Fixed-blade knives are legal to own in all 50 states. Carry laws vary by state — check local rules before carrying in public.

Q: How do I sharpen a Damascus skinner knife?

Use a whetstone or ceramic rod at the original bevel angle. Finish with a leather strop. Avoid electric sharpeners — they remove too much metal and damage Damascus layers.

Q: Can I customize this knife?

Yes. JW SteelCrafts takes custom orders — handle material, blade length, engraving. Contact us through the website to discuss your order.

Q: How long will this Damascus hunting knife last?

Decades, with basic care. Oil it, hand-wash it, store it dry. The steel doesn't wear out — neglect does the damage.

Q: Is this a good gift for a hunter?

Yes. It's handmade, one-of-a-kind, and built to be used for years. Hunters, outdoorsmen, veterans, and collectors all appreciate a blade this well made.

Gift

This knife makes a strong gift for Father's Day, Christmas, a hunting trip milestone, or retirement from a life spent outdoors.

Strong Omegaverse Comfort and a Attention Grabbing Plot
Format: Kindle
Jillian West never misses when it comes to Omegaverse, and Not Ready is no exception. This story was the perfect blend of cozy comfort and emotional depth while still delivering a strong plot. Vale is such a powerful heroine, she is strong, capable, and determined but I love that she still allows her pack to love and take care of her. It’s that balance of independence and vulnerability that makes her so relatable. The relationship dynamics were amazing: Bishop is steadfast and completely head over heels, Mercy is skeptical but protective in his own way, and Holt is the hesitant one whose slow fall is so satisfying to watch unfold. The romance hits that sweet spot between insta-love and cautious build, keeping me hooked the entire way through. And that ending. Oh my god, the cliffhanger! I need the next book in this duet immediately.

Interesting
Format: Kindle
So I will say I enjoyed the story, for sure had its moments where it dragged but it was a great story. I really liked that omegas picked their alphas/make the pack. Normally the Alphas make it and the omega fits in with them which is great but I enjoyed this new version where all the power basically went to the omega. It was a nice change of pace. I can admit some of the weird bedroom stuff with her being pregnant was odd, it’s really not hard to do stuff when pregnant (I know I’ve had two and it’s normal and even encouraged at the end especially if you want the baby out). But I like the story as a whole and will read the second, I do hope the next one isn’t dragged bc it stopped being action or tense after she met her alphas and I don’t think it was brought up or properly done when they tried to do it. More sweet after she left.

I’m a little disappointed.
Format: Kindle
I usually like Jillian West’s books but this one was missing a lot for me. The pregnancy didn’t come across as real. She’s on her feet for 12 hour days but is perfectly healthy at 8 months pregnant? Yet the week she moves in all of a sudden she’s not? She is planning on actually running during one of the plot buildups. But at 8 months pregnant that’s incredibly hard to do. The lack of breathing ability and lung space, the change in body center, mass, and gravity. All of it prohibits running, unless you’re an athlete this didn’t come off as at all realistic. I didn’t feel any connection with the alphas. There wasn’t any emotional connection. It could be because of the tense it was written in. But I didn’t get any deep feelings out of this. It came across as checking off boxes. Even the spicy scenes weren’t really believable for me. I wanted to see them fall for her, and it just kind of all fizzled. Even Bishop. One thing I did really like was the ending. I did not see it coming and I’m interested in reading book two because of it. But on the whole this book was mostly disappointing for me.

Vale is an 8 month pregnant omega working as a waitress at a strip club and a cam girl. She starts to get very creepy vibes from a regular at the club, and her baby daddy ghosted her. She has had an online relationship with a man named Bishop through her cam girl status. One night, bishop was paying to watch her sleep and ansthe creepy regular Andrew break in and watch her sleep he tells vale to come to him at his business now. She flees and finds herself at a large security company with some.hot of alphas who are there to help her. This imegaverse is a little different than I have read, but I am thoroughly enjoying it. Vale is not a traditional omega she was raised by a single beta mom, and the alphas are not normal alphas they have never really loved pack life. But they are ruthless mercenaries. They need her, and she needs them. I love the aspect of the stalker and now the plot twists at the end, so so good. Sometimes, it seemed a little slow and stale mated, but since this a duet, I think It was just her starting to have Vale get to know her alpha suitors. Cliffhanger for sure with this one.

That ending 😫
Format: Kindle
I fell into a false sense of security and really thought this was gearing towards a happy ending. Then I realized there’s no work they don’t punish Andrew. I really liked Vale’s character. I don’t normally read books with pregnancy but going into this knowing she was pregnant made it more enjoyable for me. I loved Bishops devotion to her and her happiness. I also loved that Holt and Mercy couldn’t fight their attraction to her. I love scent matches so very much. I’m so curious to see how this duet will end up. And I need to pay more attention and notice that a book I’m starting is a duet to begin with lol
