Unlike standard compression bits, this mortise-specific design features a shorter up-shear length of 11/32", making it the premier choice for milling grooves, mortises, and through-cuts in thin materials 5/8" thick or less. By combining up-cut and down-cut action, this bit compresses the fibers of the material toward the center, ensuring a splinter-free finish on both the top and bottom surfaces of melamine, veneered plywood, and laminates.
Built for industrial durability, the 77-610 is manufactured from Freud Premier Solid Carbide and enhanced with TiCo™ High-Density Carbide to provide 2X the cutting life and performance of standard uncoated bits. The bit is finished with Freud’s proprietary Black I.C.E.
