The term ‘Mizpah is found in Genesis 31:49, it means ‘watchtower and is used as a prayer, meaning “May the Lord keep watch between you and me when we are away from each other. The Victorian era was filled with symbols and declarations of love and remembrance. Usually we have the most darling engraving on the back of the band on the outside - which reads ‘Elise 1895‘. The date is a little later than the creation of the ring and this may have been a wedding ring!
