We use only the highest grade threaded rod, it is made from carbon alloy steel that has been quenched and tempered to reach its higher strength. Other no name China tools available online are made from soft mystery metal, we have seen these rods elongate with the considerable torque needed to press down the pulley, resulting in essentially a one time use tool. They also include a serrated lock nut? Why? This will damage either the drive plate, crank pulley or both. And will be difficult to remove afterwards. These people do not design tools - they rip them off, poorly.
Included is a full 1/4” thick x 2” custom turned driving plate to resist the deformation found in lesser tools. Tools are designed to be used for a lifetime and are finished in a zinc and yellow dichromate plating to resist corrosion.
