Een plaat waarop naast melancholie opnieuw energie en hoop te vinden zijn. Het gemis blijft, maar het leven gaat verder. Van Hellemont nam 10 songs op met zijn trouwe band: bassist Simon Casier (Balthazar), drummer Laurens Billiet, broer Sem Van Hellemont en Senne Guns op toetsen, en backing vocals van Roos Denayer (Rosa Butsi). Maar er is nog meer te horen: pedal steel! Saxofoon! Een 16-koppig Hongaars strijkersorkest! Zelfs zoontje Georges, intussen 3, is te horen op de nieuwe Douglas Firs.

Van Hellemont trok naar Los Angeles om de plaat te mixen met Kevin Ratterman (My Morning Jacket, Ray Lamontagne, Afghan Whigs), in de studio waar ook Feist haar laatste album afrondde. Fred Kevorkian (The White Stripes, The National) deed de mastering in New York.
