Binnen het kapitalisme wordt de ongelijkheid tussen man en vrouw schaamteloos uitgebuit. Mannen werken standaard buitenshuis, vrouwen worden nog steeds gezien als 'natuurlijke' verzorgers. Ze leven in een wereld die rijker wordt aan wellness, maar steeds armer aan autonomie en onderlinge verbinding.
Doortje Smithuijsen analyseert aan de hand van persoonlijke ervaringen hoe schijnbaar onschuldige fenomenen als moedervloggers en Rocycle onderdeel zijn van een systeem dat vrouwen blijft marginaliseren.
