LS50THa Premium Kit — 50mm Dedicated H-Alpha Solar Telescope The full capability of Lunt's 50mm platform — double-stack performance in a portable package.

The LS50C double-stack filter in this kit features Lunt's new-generation etalon, individually tested on Lunt's precision metrology equipment.

The LS50THa Premium Kit is the complete 50mm Lunt experience — single stack and double stack capability in one package. The LS50C compact double-stack filter threads directly onto the front of the OTA in seconds — no tools, no factory visit — placing its new-generation 0.35Å tilt-tuned etalon in series with the LS50THa's internal pressure-tuned etalon and reducing combined system bandpass to ~0.30Å.

The difference is not subtle. Surface detail that blends into the background at single-stack bandwidths separates into distinct structure. Plage boundaries sharpen. Filament channels deepen. Active region complexity emerges with a clarity that single-stack instruments cannot match. Prominences gain definition from base to tip. The chromosphere stops being a texture and becomes a landscape.

What You'll See

At ~0.30Å combined bandpass, the chromosphere reveals structure invisible at wider bandwidths. Individual plage cells stand out with sharp boundaries against the surrounding chromospheric network. Filaments resolve into complex multi-strand structures with dark cores and defined edges. Active regions display the full complexity of their magnetic architecture. Prominences show internal threading and flow patterns from base to tip. The 7.2–21.5mm zoom eyepiece lets you scan full-disk context at low power then push in tight on active regions without swapping glass — critical when conditions are changing and solar features are evolving faster than eyepiece changes allow. Doppler True pressure tuning gives you full control of the combined bandpass position across the hydrogen-alpha line.

Why This Package

The LS50C Compact Double Stack filter is included. The simplicity of the LS50C attachment is one of its most compelling features — threads onto the OTA front like a filter, installed in seconds, removed just as quickly. The 6" Vixen dovetail provides the extended rail length to balance the system with the DS filter in place. The 1.25" rack-and-pinion focuser with integrated brake delivers the mechanical precision that narrow-bandpass observing and imaging demand.

Package Includes

  • LS50THa OTA w/ Clamshell: 50mm aperture, 350mm FL, f/7. Internal pressure-tuned etalon (Doppler True), 0.6Å bandpass. Unobstructed aperture. Integrated clamshell mounting base.
  • LS50C Compact Double Stack: New-generation etalon. Threads directly onto front of OTA — no tools required. Combined system bandpass ~0.35Å — LS50C (0.4Å) + internal PT (0.6Å) in series.
  • B600 Blocking Filter: 6mm clear aperture, 1.25" diagonal. Imaging capable.
  • 1.25" Lunt R&P Focuser (1:1): CNC-machined aluminium/brass. 0.5" travel. Integrated brake with variable drag. 6–8 lb capacity.
  • SunLock Solar Finder: Attaches to clamshell. Red dot projection onto glass reticle.
  • 6" Vixen Dovetail: Extended rail for balanced mounting with double-stack filter. Black anodised aluminium.
  • 7.2–21.5mm Zoom Eyepiece: 7 elements/4 groups. 0.1% AR coatings. 15mm eye relief. 53°–40° FOV. Near-parfocal.
  • Hard Case w/ Fitted Foam: Custom foam insert.

Kids love the newest “Worst” tale-
Format: Hardcover
Kids will love this next book in The Worst series. Awesome, fun, colorful illustrations in this tale with Gilbert the Goblin trying to escape cupids and valentines. Instead of candy for Valentine’s Day give the gift of this book. My students love when Alex Willan has a new book out and are loving this one.

Plenty of fun for Gilbert fans!
Format: Hardcover
As in previous books in the series, Gilbert the Goblin complains about the problems he sees with Valentine's Day, what he calls 'mushy malarkey'. Young readers who don't care for the holiday will find much to relate to in the book. Although, Gilbert's complaints seem a tad trifling. Coconut chocolates are 'Blech'. He seems to have a special issue with the cupid's 'perfect', 'beautiful', and 'luxurious' hair. When Gilbert faces off with a group of cupids, he just barely manages to escape their love arrows, or so he thinks until he backs into a cactus in his own yard and believes he has been pricked by one such love arrow. He then becomes a goblin full of love. He loves his spells, his potions, even himself, but not coconut chocolates. He even welcomes his friends over to celebrate before bidding his pet sock slugs a fond goodnight. Good thing the love spell wears off. This funny book follows the pattern of the previous five books, but the addition of adorable cupids as well as Gilbert's beloved cactuses and pet sock slugs provides plenty of freshness as Gilbert once again (reluctantly) joins in the festivities. Plenty of fun for young fans of the series.
