The Special Air Service Regiment, abbreviated SASR but commonly referred to as the SAS, is an elite Australian Army special forces unit. Established in 1957, it adopted the same motto - "Who Dares Wins" - as the British SAS and was later expanded to a full regiment in 1964. It is based at Campbell Barracks in Swanbourne, a Perth suburb, and is a direct command unit of the Special Operations Command.
